Buying Guide: How to Choose Your Screen

Whether you're looking for a TV, PC monitor, or projector, follow our complete guide to make the right choice.

1. Define Your Usage

The first step is to identify your main usage: movies/series, gaming, office/creation, or travel. Each use has specific criteria (Hz for gaming, color accuracy for creation, brightness for cinema). Our Lumen Assistant asks the right questions to identify your profile in just a few clicks.

2. Choose a TV

For a TV, key criteria are: panel technology (OLED for perfect blacks, QLED for brightness, Mini-LED for the best compromise), size suited to your viewing distance, HDR (Dolby Vision recommended), and HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz gaming. For movies in a dark room, OLED is unbeatable. In a bright living room, QLED or Mini-LED is a better fit.

3. Choose a PC Monitor

For gaming: go for 144 Hz minimum, fast response time, and G-Sync/FreeSync compatibility. For office/creation: an IPS panel with good sRGB/DCI-P3 coverage and Eye Comfort certification. For productivity: a 27" or 32" at 1440p (2K) is the best compromise. Ultra-wide (21:9) monitors are excellent for multitasking and gaming immersion.

4. Choose a Projector

For a projector, consider brightness (ANSI lumens), throw type (UST to replace a TV, standard for dedicated home theater), resolution (native 4K is ideal), and contrast. A laser projector offers superior lifespan (20,000h) and better brightness. For a living room with ambient light, aim for 2500+ lumens.

5. Budget & Value for Money

Set a price range. Generally: entry-level 4K TVs start around €400, good gaming monitors from €250, 4K projectors from €800. Our comparator displays the best offers from partner retailers in 5 European countries (France, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany).

6. Compare Prices Across Europe

Screen prices vary significantly from country to country due to local VAT, taxes, and promotions. LumenCanConnect automatically compares prices between France, the UK, Spain, Italy, and Germany to find you the best deal near you.

7. Check the Rankings
